William McLaughlin, age 72, of Lakeland, Florida passed away on December 28th, 2022. A native of Massillon, Ohio, he was the son of Bill McLaughlin and Delores Sharretts.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 29 years, Debra McLaughlin, and his sons, Tom McLaughlin, Tim McLaughlin, Kevin (Amanda) Floyd and Chad (Lindsey) Floyd. He will be missed by his grandchildren Ciara (Andrew) Grimsley, Tommy McLaughlin, Alivia, Nolan, Kyla and Grayson Floyd, great-grandchildren, Zach Mireider, Carter McLaughlin, Wrayetta and Emma Grimsley, his siblings, Carl, Rick, Randy and Mike McLaughlin and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, David and Kim McLaughlin.
William served in the United States Air Force for 24 years. He loved watching football, camping, and fishing. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife. He enjoyed participating in his sons' and grandchildren’s sporting events, whether in the stands, in the shadows, or on the field coaching, he was always there. He was a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He often went out of his way to help others and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The family will host a memorial gathering for friends and family on Monday, January 23rd, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lanier Funeral & Cremation Services located at 717 Griffin Road, Lakeland, Florida 33805. Immediately following, William will receive full military honors and be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513. Those participating in William’s military honors are to arrive at Florida National Cemetery by 1:45 p.m., as the service begins promptly at 2:00 p.m.
