Warren Rushing Obituary
Warren Rushing, age 95, of Lakeland, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on August 31, 2021.
The son of Ryan and Pearl Rushing, Warren was a native of Lakeland, Florida, living on the same land on which he was born. He proudly shared his family's historical significance in the local community to anyone who expressed an interest.
Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Rebecca Rushing; children, Mary Rushing, Michael Rushing (Oralia), Rebecca Stephens, Connie Ruda (David); sister, Theresa Bare; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was proceeded in death by 7 siblings, Leona, Stella, Lela, Grace, Jessie, Thelma and Cline.
Warren was a member and former music minister of Griffin Baptist Church. He used his incredible musical talents to serve as a music minister at several churches, singing in the church choir and offering families comfort in their time of grief, memorializing their loved ones through song at funerals. He also served many years as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a purchasing agent for several different companies, including Polk Pump and Irrigation and Hughes Supply, retiring in 1988.
He served in the US Navy during WWII. He enjoyed doing puzzles and reading many different genres of novels. His love of nature and work ethic was displayed for all via the beautiful plants and flowers in his yard.
