Troy Gravil

Troy Gravil, 79, of Lakeland, Florida went home to be with his Lord on April 5, 2023.
Troy was born on February 28, 1944, in Edmonson County, Kentucky to Christopher and Mae Gravil (Whobrey).
Troy worked for 35 years as a painter on the assembly line of Ford Motor Company in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended The River Church in Tampa, Florida. He was a devout Christian and gospel singer with a beautiful voice. He enjoyed karaoke and loved to sing. He was especially fond of Elvis and often sang "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" to his wife, Sandra. He had a great sense of humor and was very funny. Growing up with nine brothers and sisters where clothes were handed down many times, he became very appreciative of the luxury of fine clothing. He absolutely loved to go shopping at Dillard's for his designer clothes. He enjoyed deer hunting with his son-in-law, Ray, and raising and training his horses. Known as the "Horse Whisperer", he never met a horse he didn't like and his favorite was Wildfire. Affectionately called "Pops" by most and "Papa" by his special daughter, Yvette Brown, he was a fun-loving man and will be greatly missed.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Oleta Seaton Woodward, Olene Miles, Beatrice Morris, and brothers, Bert, Trenton, and Herbert Gravil.
Troy is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Aaron, their beloved daughter, Brenda (Ray) Bryant, his children, Troy A. (Barbie) Gravil, E. Scott (Laura) Gravil, Robyn N. (Mike) Cassity, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Dave, James, and Kristina, and great-grandchildren, Ryden, Quinnly, Brooklyn, Gavin, and Elliot; his sister, Jeannetta (Jim) Alford; two brothers, Ron (Shelia) Gravil and Chris (Melody) Gravil, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. at Lanier Funeral & Cremation Services, 717 Griffin Rd. Lakeland, Florida 33805. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park, Lakeland, Florida.
