It is with hearts overflowing with love and sorrow that we share the passing of Timothy Kent McDowell, Sr., who left this earth on May 25, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on January 30, 1944, Timothy lived a life that touched every soul he encountered. Always the friendly face and open heart, he never met a stranger. He loved talking to people, and in return, everyone who met him couldn't help but love him right back.
Tim was a proud Army veteran who held an everlasting respect for the military and those who served. He never missed a chance to shake a veteran's hand, offer a word of thanks, or press one of his cherished military "thank you" coins into their palm. His gratitude for their sacrifice was woven into the fabric of who he was.
For 63 beautiful years, he shared his life with his beloved Betty — the love of his life, his best friend, his partner through it all. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to each other.
He leaves behind his children — Tambra McDowell, Phillip McDowell (Cookie), Dianne Rose (Nicolas), Timothy McDowell Jr., MeShel Strickland, Shawn McDowell (Holly), and Jonathan McDowell (Toni) — as well as a legacy of 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren who will carry his stories, his humor, and his strength into the future. Beyond their own family, Timothy and Betty poured their hearts into many others who lovingly called them Mom and Dad.
Tim was a born storyteller. Whether reminiscing about the old days with his family or sharing tales about his life, he could light up a room with his words. He loved his classic westerns, and like the cowboys he admired, he lived with quiet courage, fierce loyalty, and an unshakable sense of right and wrong.
He was a man who made you feel seen, valued, and loved — whether you were family, friend, or stranger. He leaves behind a hole no one can fill, but also a lifetime of love that will ripple through generations.
A private service will be held at a later date to celebrate his incredible life. Our family thanks you for your prayers, your love, and your kind words as we walk through this loss together.
Tim was deeply loved — and he will be missed beyond measure.
