T. (Thelma) Lois Munchalfen (nee Shive), 71, passed away February 5, 2020. Born on April 9, 1948, in Joliet, IL. A JTHS graduate, class of 1966, she also attended Joliet Junior College and the Barbizon School of Modeling in Chicago. Lois was a beautiful person inside and out, having started her career as a catalog model in the Chicago-land area.
She married her soul mate, Arnold in 1972, and traveled with him while he was in the US Army and the FAA. Throughout their marriage, she worked various positions outside the home, most notably with Federal Express, Memphis TN in the personnel department where she won Fred Smith's “Bravo Zulu” award and, after moving to Houston, TX., she worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Kahn & Mayerson. After several years in Houston Texas, Lois ran her own company Rubber Stamps and More, and worked with the Alzheimer's Association as a support group leader for more than 20 years before retiring with Arnold to Lakeland, FL
Lois is survived by her husband Arnold E. Munchalfen, a brother, Robert L. Shive, her nephew Robert E. Shive and two great nephews, Robert N and Michael E Shive and great niece Emily Shive. She has four brother and sisters-in-laws and multi-generations of nephews and nieces that she loved immensely.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. Shive Jr. and Ada M. (Tucker) Shive; and sister-in-law Judy Shive.
Lois was that one person who always reached out with a kind letter, thank you, birthday and holiday wishes. She even switched to emails, keeping everyone updated on the Lakeland activities. She would always end her cards with Love from Lakeland, XXOO. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on February 20th at the Lanier Funeral Home in Lakeland, Florida. ln lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Association are appreciated.
