Thelma Hemminger, age 88, of Lakeland, FL passed away on October 25, 2022.
A native of Pennsville, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Walton and Thelma H. Willis.
She leaves behind her only daughter, Deborah (Darrell) Gavin, grandchildren, Wendy, Nick and Mackenzi Gavin, and great-granddaughter, Mara Gavin. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Ottinger, Carrie Thomas and Sally Carfiello. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William in 2006 and her siblings, Cora Lively, Howard Willis, Edgar Willis and Walton Willis Jr.
Thelma was a member of Abundant Life Church of God (formerly, Lake Wire Church of God) where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was a homemaker who took good care of her daughter. She had a lovely singing voice and loved to sing. She went briefly to Northeast Biblical Institute in New Jersey where she met her husband, William. She was a good wife and a vibrant, very outspoken woman who never met a stranger, and she loved the color blue. She absolutely adored children and wanted many of them.
Services will be held privately. Thelma will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with her husband, William.
