In humble reverence, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Shirley Ann (Buckler) Pirkle, a devoted soul who departed us at the age of 84 on October 29th, 2023. Born on February 8th, 1939, in Hartford City, Indiana, Shirley's journey was adorned with the virtues of humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation.
Shirley's unwavering faith served as a guiding light throughout her existence. Prior to retiring to a farm in Nunnelly, Tennessee in 2006, she was an active member of St. Clement Catholic Church. It was within those sacred walls that she communed with God, bowing her head in heartfelt prayer for her family and friends.
Amidst the tapestry of her life Shirley skillfully wove threads of creativity, finding great pleasure in the art of sewing, quilting, embroidery, and the alchemy of baking. With each delicate stitch and every mouthwatering bite, she expressed her love for the unique beauty of the world around her. Through her crafts and culinary delights, she celebrated the divine gifts bestowed upon her, acknowledging the sacredness imbued within every fiber and every morsel. Her creations were testaments to her talent and attention to detail, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to receive her handmade gifts.
Shirley's life was enriched by her cherished relationships. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, forever etched in the hearts of her siblings Joe Buckler, Mary Alice (Dick) Pierce, Carl (Barbara) Buckler, Nyla (Ken) Campbell, and Betty Buckler; as well as her children Freda (Mike) Carey, Phyllis Olmstead, Bobby (Joy) Pirkle, and Faith (Larry) Clark. Additionally, her memory lives on through the lives of her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. As she embarks on her eternal journey, she is joyfully reunited with her late parents, Robert and Freda Buckler, and her beloved husband of 63 years, Don Pirkle, who preceded her in death.
Throughout her earthly journey, Shirley found fulfillment in her many careers stretching from her early days on her family's dairy farm to her years of dabbling in real estate with her late husband. However, her life's work was raising her children in the world of agriculture.
Shirley will be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
