Sherry Boyett Obituary

We gather today to celebrate the homecoming of a beloved child of God, Sherry Lynn Boyett, who was born on September 18, 1941, in the humble town of Eldorado, Arkansas, and was called to the Lord's side on March 10, 2024, in the warm embrace of Lakeland, Florida. Sherry left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

Sherry was a devoted wife to her cherished husband, Marlen Goodridge. She was a guiding star to her children, Steven Boyett, with his wife Marie, of Lakeland, Florida, and Sherra Boyett-Fraser of Winter Haven, Florida. Sherry's legacy continues through the lives of her grandchildren, Adrienne Eggert and her husband Christopher of Mill Creek, Indiana, James Boyett of Pennsylvania, David Vogt and his wife Erin of Centerville, Virginia, Stephen Boyett of Lakeland, Florida, and Brendon Fraser of Ruskin, Florida. Her great-grandchildren, Kirsten Vogt, Emily Daniels, LeAnna Vogt, Jay Vogt, Noah Vogt, Parker Vogt, and Dylan Vogt, will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandmother's love and faith.

Born to James Edward and Ruby Adams, who preceded her in glory, and sibling to Terry Adams, with his wife Beverly of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Sherry's roots ran deep in the soil of faith and family. She was a woman who knew the value of kinship and the strength it brings.

Sherry's life was one of service, not only to her family but to her community. She was the proud owner of Furniture Etc., a place where she extended her hospitality and kindness to all who walked through its doors. Her calling, however, was to serve the Lord, and she did so with grace and fervor as the pastor of First Church of God in Brooksville, Tenth Street Church of God, and Gibsonia Church of God. Her sermons were filled with the warmth of her personality and the wisdom of the Scriptures.

Her interests were as nurturing as her spirit. Sherry loved to read, her mind always hungry for the wisdom of the written word. She found peace in the kitchen, cooking meals that warmed the body and soul. Her hands brought forth life in her garden, a testament to her love for nature and the Creator's work.

As we bid farewell to Sherry, we do so with the assurance that she has entered the eternal joy of her heavenly Father. Her life was a sermon of love, her actions a hymn of generosity, and her memory a prayer of hope. We rejoice in the knowledge that she now rests in the arms of her Savior, free from the toils of this world, basking in the glory of the next.

Sherry Lynn Boyett's journey on earth has ended, but her story continues in the lives she touched. We are all blessed to have been a part of her congregation, learning from her example and inspired by her unwavering faith. Let us carry her legacy forward, living each day with the same love and kindness that she so effortlessly displayed.

May the road rise to meet her, may the wind be always at her back, and until we meet again, may God hold Sherry Lynn Boyett in the palm of His hand. Amen.
