Phyllis McCall Obituary

Phyllis Joyce McCall, a woman of love and joy, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 88. Born on May 30, 1936, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, Phyllis's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community.

In 1955, Phyllis married the love of her life, Roy Lee McCall, and together they embarked on a journey that would span nearly six decades until Roy's passing. Their union was blessed with five children: Gary Lee McCall, Bonnie Jo McCall, the late Roy Douglas McCall, Elvin Jay McCall, and Phyllis Ann Wilson. Phyllis's legacy further blossomed with the joy of eight grandchildren, two of whom predeceased her, and her cherished dog, Hopey, who was a constant source of companionship and happiness.

Phyllis's zest for life was contagious, and her involvement in various clubs and groups was a reflection of her outgoing and sociable nature. As a proud lifetime member of the Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club in Akron, Ohio, as well as their auxiliary and a lifetime member of the Auxiliary at Amvets Post 32 in Lakeland, Florida, she was affectionately known as "mom" by all. Her love for gardening, pull tabs, bingo, the casino, and euchre was well-known, and she could often be found sharing laughter and good times with friends and family.

Her presence was a warm embrace to those around her, and Phyllis was renowned for being a great mother, not only to her own children but to many who knew her. The words that best describe Phyllis are loving, caring, and nurturing—a true matriarch whose guidance and affection shaped the lives of those she touched.

Phyllis's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of dedication, kindness, and unwavering support. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we bid farewell to Phyllis Joyce McCall, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. Her spirit, characterized by love and joy, will continue to inspire and guide us. Though she has left this earthly realm, her legacy of love endures, reminding us of the preciousness of family and the bonds that connect us all.
