Nereida Vega Maisonet

Nereida Vega Maisonet, passed away on October 6, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 80. Born on July 30, 1945, in Manati, Puerto Rico, Nereida's life was a tapestry of dedication to her family, her work, and the community that she built around her.

Nereida's journey began as the cherished daughter of Clemente Vega and Victoria Maisonet, who predeceased her, as did her beloved husband of 45 years, Hipolito Cortes, and her siblings Damiana Ramirez, Cristobal Vega, George Vega, Florentio Vega, Robert Vega, and Maria Vega. Her legacy continues through her children, Mitzie Cortes, William Ortiz, and Luis Anthony Ortiz, her siblings Paulita Negron and Lydia Liberato, her adored 15 grandchildren, and her 12 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

As we say goodbye to Nereida Vega Maisonet, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. Her spirit, characterized by generosity and kindness, will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Nereida's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the beauty of a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched. We take comfort in knowing that her spirit will remain with us, guiding and encouraging us as we navigate the path she has left behind. Rest in peace, Nereida; your light will never fade.

Friends and family will be received from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will follow from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Iglesia Pentecostal de Lakeland 3415 North Florida Ave Lakeland, FL 33805. Burial will follow at 10:00 am at Oakhill Burial park, US Hwy 98 S, Lakeland, FL 33812
