Mary Hession Obituary

Our mama entered into her eternal resting place today. Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Russell and Helen Meyer. She had one brother Henry Ronald Meyer (Anne). Mom spent her younger days visiting her grandmother on the farm. So many wonderful memories were shared about the old home, the ghost stories, getting so scared that they grabbed the horse and the neighbor only heard one hoof hit the bridge on the way to his house. When she was three years old, she would wait for her Grandfather to come out of the field and she would run to meet him and he would throw her up on Old Nell who would take her to the barn where she would stay and fall asleep on the back of the horse until he would come get her. When the farm no longer had plow horses, her Grandmother bought a dun mare named Pal. She would spend time going down the to the cow pastures for Pal, who didn't like to be caught. When she finally would get Pal cornered in a lane, Pal would turn to her and let mom catch her. The first ride was always a dead out run. Mom says she would just lean down and wrap her arms around the neck until Pal stopped. When she married, she moved to Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and her love for horses again was shared with her family. Neighbors often talked about the clip clop of Mary's horses down the road. After moving to Florida, she raised her family near her parents in Seminole Florida. After retirement she moved to Lakeland Florida and bought the love of her life, Chance. He loved her with everything, and took very good care of her on all those long trail rides. Camping with friends and family, and of course Chance, filled her heart. Chance developed laminitis and left us November 2022. She missed him so much. Just shortly before Mom left us she awoke one afternoon and said I think I hear Chance whinnying. Mary leaves behind her three children, Dawn, Patrick(Dana) and Peter(Gayle). She was blessed with seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren and one on the way. Our hearts grieve the loss of our Mama but we all know she is resting and no longer suffering. Goodbye Mama, We love you!
