Martha Byers Obituary
Martha Dale Byers died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones in Lakeland, Florida on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the age of 82.
Martha Dale is survived by her brother, Elwin O'Steen; children, Laura (Chuck) Pusateri, Stanley (Janet) Byers and Evan (Michelle) Byers; grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda) Lewis, Hunter and Holly Sexton, Haley (Alex) Anderson, Mikayla, Alexis and Hannah Byers and one great grandchild, Logan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Josephine O'Steen, her loving husband, James Stanley (Jim) Byers.
Martha Dale was born on July 12,1938 to Clayton and Josephine O'Steen in Polk City, Florida. She graduated from Kathleen High School in 1956. She married Jim Byers in a double wedding with her brother Elwin (Carol) O'Steen on September 9,1961.
She was a homemaker and worked as a receptionist at Publix Employees Credit union for 28 years until she retired. She enjoyed going to church at Bethel Baptist Church, working in the yard with her plants, and spending time with her family and friends. She was always up for a good all day shopping trip with anyone who would go with her (usually her dear friend Sena was the sidekick). Don't forget you would be gone all day. She loved her family & family gatherings. She welcomed anyone into her home. Martha Dale left a lasting impression on anyone who met her.
The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church. Viewing will be held at noon and service starting at 1:00 pm. Graveside will follow at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Polk City, Florida.
The Family would like to thank Carol Zinnerman for all the love and compassionate care for Grandma thru the years. Also, Shelly Chapman for all your efforts and love. We see you both as our family now. We would like to thank VITAS employees for all their support. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Martha Dale's life.
