Margaret Buchannan Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth Buchannan "Liz", who was born on April 10, 1954, in Charleston, South Carolina, and passed away on September 5, 2026, in Winter Haven, Florida, lived a life marked by love, creativity, and devotion to her family.

She was known by those who loved her as a warm and caring presence whose gentle spirit touched everyone around her. Margaret carried herself with quiet strength and a gracious heart, and she found joy in the simple and meaningful things that made a house feel like home. Her life was shaped by her love of God and the bonds of family, and she cherished the time she spent with those closest to her throughout the years.

Margaret was the beloved mother of Brandy Dalton and her husband Joseph, and William "Choo" Myers. Her children were a source of great pride and joy to her, and she treasured each of them deeply. She was also a devoted grandmother to Sarayphia Blanco, Joseph Dalton II, Leslie Myers, J.R. Myers, and Adrian Myers, and she delighted in the blessing of her great-grandchild, Jakai Dalton. Margaret loved her grandchildren dearly and took great happiness in their lives, accomplishments, and visits. Her family knew that her love for them was steady, generous, and unwavering.

She was the daughter of William Dewitt Buchannan and Gussie Ellingberg, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also the sister of Donald Rice and his wife Geraldine, her cousin Judy Bauer and she valued the connection they shared. Family ties remained important to Margaret, and she appreciated the comfort and companionship that came from those relationships.

Margaret had a creative spirit and found great enjoyment in crafting and photography. She especially loved beading, embroidery, and cross stitching, and she spent many hours making beautiful things with her hands. These hobbies reflected her patience, care, and attention to detail, and they brought her peace and satisfaction. The work she created was often a reflection of her personality, thoughtful, expressive, and made with love. Her creativity was one of the many ways she shared herself with the world.

In addition to her family and her crafts, Margaret held a special place in her heart for her dog, Diesel. She loved him dearly and enjoyed the companionship and comfort he brought into her life. Those who knew Margaret understood that her affection extended beyond people and into the loyal bonds she formed with the animals she loved. Diesel was a faithful friend to her, and she cared for him with tenderness and devotion.

Margaret Elizabeth Buchannan will be remembered for her loving nature, her creative talents, and the deep affection she held for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her family and friends will remember her for the love she gave, the beauty she created, and the lasting impact of her presence in their lives.

Though her passing brings sorrow, Margaret's life stands as a reminder of the importance of family, creativity, and everyday acts of love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
