Little George Gilbert, passed away on December 8, 2025, at the age of 101 in Lakeland, Florida. Born on September 12, 1924, in Sales, Georgia, to George Andrew and Willie Love Gilbert, Little George's life was a testament to his enduring strength and unwavering faith.
George's early years in Sales laid a strong foundation for a life of service and dedication. His commitment to his country was evident through his 20 years of military service, where he honorably served in the Army before retiring as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force. His military career was marked by courage and a steadfast sense of duty, values he carried with him throughout his life.
After his retirement from the military, George found comfort and strength in his faith. He remained connected to New Home Baptist Church, and his gentle, faith-filled spirit was evident to all who knew him.
George was a family man at heart. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie Gilbert, his son, Gerald Jack Gilbert Sr., and his daughter, Sandra Dianne Musgrove. He is survived by his daughter, Tami Sweeney, and a legacy of many grandchildren who will continue to honor his memory. Among them is his grandson, Jeffery Musgrove, who was his caretaker in his later years.
Little George Gilbert's journey through life was marked by the love he shared and the lives he touched. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of courage, love, and faith. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
