Linda Lou King, 86, of Lakeland, passed away on February 26, 2023.
Born on November 09, 1936, in Hays, Kansas, she was the only daughter of Donald Paul and Veronica Albertine (Bond) Doane.
Fluent in French and German, Linda was a transcriber for the CIA before retiring after more than 25 years of service. Linda had a beautiful alto voice and enjoyed performing in musical theater productions. She was an advocate for mistreated dogs and would spend her free time taking in stray cats to get them fixed and find homes for them. She was a kind woman who was accommodating and helpful. She loved to help others in any way that she could. Multilingual, she would take the time to help strangers struggling to communicate with each other when language was a barrier. She would often help others in the nursing home when she was able. She was a kind and amazing mother who raised her daughter to be independent and well-rounded, introducing her to musical theater and the arts as well as making sure she was well-educated, and current in her studies. Linda will be laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery with her husband, Alva.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Alva Eckler King who passed in 1991.
She leaves behind her loving and only daughter, Jennifer Cook, and her grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Cook and Mathew Stephen Cook.
Services will be held privately.
