Leo J. Rogers, age 87, of Lakeland, Florida, died suddenly while he was at home on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1936. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joan, and his daughters, Stephanie and Catherine Rogers.
Leo was born and raised in Grand Ledge, Michigan, and graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1954. After high school he did a tour of duty with the Marines and was a "Semper Fi" guy all his life. After 35 years as a businessman and entrepreneur, Leo enjoyed his retirement in Lakeland, Florida. While in retirement he achieved his lifelong ambition of being a novelist. His book, The Path of Evil, was published in 2009 and is still available on Amazon.com.
Leo loved to read books, to drink Famous Grouse scotch, to play Bingo, and being from Michigan, he also loved cars. He was a collector of German steins and foreign currency. He was an avid WWII buff. His favorite cable channels were The History Channel, and Turner Classic Movies.
A natural extrovert, Leo made friends wherever he went. He loved to be with people and make them laugh. Those who knew him will long remember the twinkle in his eye, how his laugh would ring out as clear as a bell, and his smile - to which one could only smile back. His memory will be a blessing.
