On January 23, 2025, Larry D. Ballard, affectionately known as "Fatback," passed away peacefully at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Larry was born on January 22, 1954, to JL and Carrie Ballard, who preceded him in death. A proud husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he was the cornerstone of his family and a friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Delilah Ballard, his daughters Lisa and Kelley Ballard, and his stepdaughters Lisa and Buffy. Larry was the proud grandfather to Ashlyn, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Bailey, Jacob, Dakota, Cheyenne, Abby, Paul, Tommy, Brittany, Tiffany, and Dylan,
all of whom were the light of his life.
Larry is also survived by his siblings, Lanny (Gail) Ballard, Buddy Ballard, and Sue Harris, who will continue to honor his memory and celebrate the many joyful moments they shared together.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Larry, or "Fatback," was a man of warmth, humor, and wisdom. His laughter and stories will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He embraced life with open arms, finding joy in
the simple things and sharing that joy with everyone around him.
Funeral services will take place at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, located at 3504 Mt. Tabor Rd, Lakeland, FL 33810. January 29th the viewing will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by services at 1:00 PM. Services provided by Lanier Funeral Homes.
Though he has left this world, Larry's spirit will live on in the love he shared and the memories he created. Rest easy, Fatback—you were truly one of a kind.
