Kathy Mckean, age 69, of Lakeland, FL passed away on June 17, 2022.
A native of New York, she was the daughter of Sigfrido and Providencia Ortiz.
She leaves behind her husband, Quintin Mckean, her son, Santos Oscar (Kimberly) Báez Jr. of Ocala, and daughter, Kimi Báez (Jameson) Yi of Lakeland. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Santos Oscar Báez III and Isaiah Felix Báez. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Melissa Flynn, Derrick J. Flynn, David Ortiz, Tasha Ortiz, Jennifer C. Goodman, Harold Goodman and Clarissa C. Ortiz and Anthony, Aaron and Stephen Mckean, brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry R. Mckean Jr., Samuel Mckean, Rose Mckean, James Mckean of South Carolina, Patrick Mckean of South Carolina, Ralph Mckean of Michigan, Jeremiah Mckean of Lakeland, Rebecca Scripture of Missouri, and Dorothy Mckean of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Sigfrido (Martha) Ortiz, Martha survives and Signardo (Evelyn) Ortiz, Evelyn survives and brothers-in-law, Gary Mckean and Timothy Mckean.
Kathy worked as the administrative assistant to the principal of Snively Elementary school and worked for the Polk County School Board. She was a talented artist and created many paintings using oil and acrylics. She loved going to the movies, enjoyed the theater and would escape to the beach as often as she could. She was a nurturing, loving woman who cared for her family. She was a Jehovah's Witness. When she met Quintin, they both owned a black '86 Monte Carlo. They bonded and fell in love because "it was just meant to be". She leaves behind her cherished artwork and a large, loving family. She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends for a viewing and visitation to celebrate Kathy on Friday, June 24, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lanier Funeral and Cremation Services, 717 Griffin Rd. Lakeland, Florida 33805. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to children's Hospital and Hollis Cancer Center of Lakeland.
