Julia Pauline Mount, or "Pauline" as she was affectionately known, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, at the age of 96 in Lakeland, FL. Born on April 9, 1928, in Moultry, GA, she was the eldest daughter of James Washington West and Ola Beatrice (Pyle) West.
Pauline's journey was marked by the love and memories she shared with her late husband, George Mount, and her large family. She now joins George and her siblings Dorothy Paul, Betty Miley, James (Roscoe) West, Roy Gene West, Iren Dykes, and Jimmy F. West in eternal rest. Among those cherishing her memory are her daughter, Deborah L. Moore (Bob), surviving siblings Janette Walden, Maxcine Weaver, Barbara McLellan, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pauline showed us all what it meant to be tough and keep going no matter what. Pauline found comfort and meaning in her faith, guiding her through life's journey. She was a devoted member of Fellowship Church Assembly of God in Lakeland, FL.
As a military spouse, Pauline embraced adventure, traveling extensively alongside her husband. Her passion for art led her to create countless beautiful paintings, often gifted to those she held dear. She had a keen eye for treasure, relishing her numerous thrift store expeditions, particularly at Goodwill. Another favorite haunt was the Webster Flea Market on Mondays, where she never failed to indulge in an ice cream cone before the journey home.
Pauline's culinary talents were legendary, especially her Beef Roast with Mushrooms, a staple at the family's annual Christmas gathering. Known for her outspokenness, honesty, and generosity, Pauline's presence lit up any room. Her infectious laugh and tender heart endeared her to all who knew her. Above all, she cherished her faith, her family, and her church family.
In celebrating Julia Pauline Mount's life, we honor a woman whose warmth, spirit, and love touched countless hearts. To know her was to love her, and her memory will forever shine bright in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
