Joyce Mason Heath, 92, passed away on September 8th, 2021 at Brookdale Retirement Center, Winter Haven, Florida, where she lived for the past 8 years. Born in Bloomington, Illinois, Joyce was the daughter of the late Stanton D. and Minnie Huffman Perry. Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, George H. Mason Jr., of Lakeland Florida. Joyce is also predeceased by her second husband, C. Grady Heath of Winter Haven, Florida.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Perry H. Mason and his wife Lisa of South Chesterfield, Virginia and Mark R. Mason and his wife Linda of Lakeland, Florida. She also is survived by two grandsons, Phillip M. Mason and his partner Robin Boone of South Lyon, Michigan and Matthew R. Mason and his friend Crystal Lowery of Summerville, South Carolina. Joyce also has a great-granddaughter Everleigh Boone.
Joyce worked for Auto Owners Insurance Company in Lakeland, Florida for more than 25 years as a field underwriter. She was also a Sales Associate at Sears.
She was active in her state and local community. She was past President of the Florida State Fireman's Auxiliary. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. With over 50 years of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, she served as past Matron of Chapter #26 of Lakeland, Florida and past Matron of Chapter #74 of Winter Haven, Florida. She was a life member of the Order of the Rose and also past Grand Ruth of the Order of the Eastern Star. Joyce was past High Priestess of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America and past President of the Kentucky Colonels. She was a member of Lake Alfred United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at Lanier Funeral Home, 717 Griffin Road, Lakeland on September 24th at 1:00 pm and will include an Eastern Star service. Her final resting place will be Lakeland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
