Joanna Michelle Thompson, 37, passed away on February 6, 2023, in Lakeland, Florida.
A native of Texarkana, Texas, Joanna was the only child born to David Raymond and Margaret Helen Rodgers Milligan.
Joanna was working as a Senior Analyst in marketing for Verizon. She absolutely loved her job and was great at it. She was a selfless woman who was loyal to a fault. She took the time to check on others and care for them. She always had the right thing to say and gave the best advice and the most thoughtful gifts that you didn't even know you needed. She listened to what you had to say. Joanna was a fierce woman who spoke her mind and had no trouble keeping others in line when necessary. She was a champion for those she cared about, a devoted friend who was there without hesitation for those in need. Joanna was a protector, who was caring and compassionate to her core. She loved country music and had the voice of an angel. She absolutely adored her family and friends' children. It was a privilege to know her and an honor to be loved by her.
Joanna leaves behind her beloved husband, Daryl Ray Thompson. She is also survived by her loving, sister, Britain Ball, her aunts, Krystal McCright, Maurie Johnson, and Peggie Pricco, and her cousins, Leisa McCright, Melanie Brooks, and Sara Haynie as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Joanna to a pet rescue in your area, Humane Society, Lakeland Regional Health Foundation for women and children and/or to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
