Jeanette Thomas Obituary

Jeanette Joan Thomas, a woman of unwavering love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 87. Born on September 25, 1936, in Odessa, Washington, Jeanette's life was a testament to her enduring faith and devotion to her family.

Jeanette's journey led her to the heart of Rodney Thomas, with whom she built a life filled with joy, laughter, and an ever-growing family. Together, they raised a beautiful family including their children Debbie Brand (Leon), Daniel Thomas (Vicki), Teresa Thomas, Dewayne Thomas (Angela), Wayne Thomas (Penny), and Dorothea Thomas. Jeanette's legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the warmth and guidance she provided. Though preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Edna Schaeffer, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and a beloved grandson Hunter Thomas, her spirit of love and nurturing continues to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

For many years, Jeanette served with dedication as a lunchroom manager for the Polk County School Board. Her commitment to the well-being of the children she served was evident in the care she took in her work, ensuring that every child was greeted with a smile and a nutritious meal.

A devout member of Kathleen Baptist Church for 58 years, Jeanette's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her involvement in the church community was not just a duty but a profound source of joy and fulfillment. Her faith-filled life was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her unwavering trust in God's plan guided her through every chapter of her life.

Jeanette's interests and talents were many, but her passion for sewing and quilting stood out. She created countless treasures that will serve as tangible reminders of her skill and creativity. A remarkable cook, known for her yeast rolls, she delighted in preparing meals for her family, infusing each dish with love. Her role as a homemaker was one she embraced with pride, always ensuring that her home was a sanctuary of comfort and care for her husband and children.

Above all, Jeanette was the epitome of a devoted mother and the love of Rodney's life. Her philosophy was family first, no matter what, and she lived by this creed every day. Her selfless nature meant that she always put the needs of her loved ones above her own, and her loving presence was the glue that held her family together.

Jeanette's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, selflessness, and faith. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will remember her as a woman who embodied these qualities in every action and word. Her memory will be treasured, her lessons will be honored, and her love will be felt for generations to come.

As we bid farewell to Jeanette Joan Thomas, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on this world. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us until we meet again.
