Jeanette Douglas Obituary

Jeanette Martin Douglas, a woman of faith, intelligence, and love, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023. Born on June 19, 1931, in Tampa, Florida, Jeanette lived a life full of passion, purpose, and joy.

Jeanette was a proud graduate of Kathleen High School, Class of '47, and continued her education at Florida Southern College. Her love for learning led her to a fulfilling career in education. For 41 years, she dedicated herself to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher for Polk County School District. Even after her retirement, Jeanette's passion for teaching never waned. She continued to educate students for 14 years until the age of 76 at Excel Christian Academy in Lakeland, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.

Jeanette was predeceased by her husbands, Lamar A. Martin, of 48 years, and Thomas Edward Douglas, of 13 years, her brother, James A. Turner Jr., her son, David Lamar Martin, and her grandson, Brian Lamar Brady. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jamie Green, and her grandchildren, Jennifer (BJ) Liebrecht, Mindi (Tony) Estevez, Katy (Destin) Williams, and Brian's surviving wife, Jessica Brady. Jeanette's legacy also continues through her great-grandchildren, Lindsey (Darius) Charon, Courtney Liebrecht, Julia and Jemma Brady, Samantha Williams, Olivia, Owen, and Oaklyn Estevez, and the first great-great twin grandchildren on the way, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Jeanette regularly attended Together Church, in Lakeland, where she was actively involved and was a beacon of faith in her community. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality and evolving trends. She loved to macrame when it was the thing to do and found joy in ceramics when it was all the rage. Jeanette had a fondness for strawberries and could never seem to get her fill of them. Always the epitome of a sassy and classy lady, she took pride in always having her hair, nails, and toes done to perfection.

Jeanette was also an avid traveler and a social butterfly. She loved meeting new people, always returning with a wealth of stories and experiences. Her zest for life was infectious. She was ageless. With the spunk and health of a woman half her age, she had the ability to light up any room she entered.

Jeanette was a dedicated educator, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, a loyal friend, and a steadfast pillar of her community. But above all, she was a woman of faith and boundless love, leaving a legacy for future generations. Jeanette's life is a beautiful testament to a well-lived life, and she will be deeply missed.
