James Daniel Maguire, affectionately known as Danny to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on March 15, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was one of three children born to John and Nancy Maguire.
Danny's life was a testament to his selfless, kind, and loving nature. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 10 years, Susan Maguire. Together, they blended a family that was the center of Danny's world. His only daughter, Meagan, and her husband, Ronald James, blessed him with three grandsons, Ronald, Jacob, and Tyler, who were the apples of his eye. Danny also embraced his role as a stepfather to Chancey Thrower, Macey Steedley, and Marcus Steedley. He was a beloved brother to Angela Renee Flores and Mickey Maguire, and a cherished uncle to his niece, Chelsea Juliana, and nephews Eric and Aaron Henry. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy Maguire, and his first wife, Betty Ann Maguire who lost a battle with cancer in 2006.
For many years, Danny served as a reliable and dedicated delivery driver for UPS in St. Petersburg. His colleagues knew him as a hardworking member of the Teamsters, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. Danny's commitment to his community was further reflected in his involvement with the First Baptist Church of Polk City, where he regularly attended and was baptized.
Danny was an avid fan of the Florida Gators, and his passion for sports was matched only by his love for riding his motorcycle. Danny was described as a "superman" by those who knew him, always caring for and providing for everyone else, even in the face of his own challenges. His concern for others earned him the affectionate title of a "worry wart," but it was this same concern that made him so beloved. Danny enjoyed playing pool, attending NASCAR races, and spending quality time with his faithful golden doodle, Sammy. Sammy was a companion and a source of joy and comfort for Danny, and went with him everywhere.
Danny's legacy is one of unwavering love and selflessness. He was a kind person who would go out of his way to help a friend in need, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was an illustration of the impact one person can have on so many.
As we say goodbye to James Daniel Maguire, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he leaves behind. Danny's spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will be held in our hearts forever. He was a torch of kindness in a world that needs it, and his example will continue to light the way for all who knew him. Rest in peace, Danny; your journey was one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those you held dear.
