James A. Davis, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 80 in Lakeland, Florida. Born on December 18, 1945, in Nashville, Tennessee, James's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his passions.
James is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jennifer Davis, who stood by his side as a beacon of love and support. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby (Dorothy) Davis, his four children, James also embraced his role as a stepfather to Jeff and Joe Curnutte.
Before retiring, James served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his years. His work ethic and dedication were evident to all who knew him, and his contributions to his community were immeasurable. James was also a hardworking businessman who owned and operated his own truck driving business before going on to work for the City of Lakeland in the Solid Waste Division, where he faithfully served for 21 years before retiring on December 18, 2010.
James's commitment to his faith was evident through his active membership at Crestview Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida. His church family will fondly remember his steadfast presence and the joy he brought to every service.
A man of many interests, James found solace and joy in motorcycles, hot rods, and the art of rebuilding cars and trucks. His hands were rarely clean, as they were often busy under the hood of a car or gripping the handlebars of his motorcycle, feeling the freedom of the open road.
As we bid farewell to James A. Davis, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey completed, and a soul that has found its eternal rest. His memory will be carried forward in the stories told, the engines revved, and the love that continues to flourish in the family he adored.
