Iva Young Combee, a lifelong resident of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on May 16, 1938, in the same city she adored, Iva's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and family.
Iva was the beloved wife of the late Owen Combee, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage filled with devotion and joy. Together, they built a family legacy that continued to flourish through their children, daughter Denise Urban and her husband Dan, and son Keith Combee and his wife Gerri. Iva was a cherished sister to Linda Bass and her husband Mike. Her role as a grandmother was one she held dear, showering love upon her grandchildren, Danielle Maldonado and her husband Candido, Deanna Day and her husband Doug, and Paige Padilla and her husband Josue. Iva's joy multiplied with the arrival of each of her six great-grandchildren, Angelo, Leonardo, Raphael, Reagan, Riley, and Owen, whose lives will forever be graced by her memory.
A steadfast member of Calvary Baptist Church from her earliest days, Iva's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She embodied the spirit of service, volunteering in the church nursery every Sunday, where she touched the lives of countless children with her gentle nature and loving heart.
Iva's zest for life extended beyond her church activities. She was an avid tennis player, relishing the camaraderie and competition found on the courts. Her culinary skills were legendary among family and friends, and nothing gave her more pleasure than hosting gatherings where her delicious meals brought everyone together. Iva took immense pride in her home, especially her beautiful yard, which was a reflection of her dedication and care.
Those who knew Iva will remember her for her loving presence and faith-filled spirit. She was the epitome of gentleness, always ready with a kind word and a warm embrace. Her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, like sitting on her back porch with her morning coffee doing her devotions and enjoying the beauty of nature, was an inspiration to all.
Iva Young Combee's legacy is one of unwavering love and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived. Her memory will continue to be a ray of light for her family, her church community, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will remain with us, guiding and comforting us in the days to come.
