Gregory Fletcher Boatwright, a man of love and adventure, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in his hometown of Lakeland, FL, at the age of 67. Born on September 14, 1957, also in Lakeland, Gregory's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of joy and selflessness that he carried with him in every endeavor.
Gregory was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Rose Boatwright, with whom he shared over three decades of cherished memories since their marriage on February 22, 1992. His legacy of kindness is also carried on by his sister, Debra McGuirt and her husband Carl, his sister-in-law Lidia, and the many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Willa Mae, and brother, Gary Boatwright, with whom he shared a lifetime of brotherly love and camaraderie.
Greg's passion for life was evident in his love for his dog, Sadie Mae, and his unwavering support for his favorite sports teams. He could often be found cheering on the Buccaneers, reveling in a Florida State football game, or celebrating a victory by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Soccer matches, too, were a source of great excitement and joy for him.
An adventurous soul, Greg found solace and happiness in the mountains of Tennessee, where he would travel to embrace the tranquility of nature. Redington Beach held a special place in his heart, serving as a frequent destination where he could unwind and bask in the beauty of the ocean.
