Frances Johnson, age 80, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on November 19, 2022.
A native of Prince Edward County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Grace Lyles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Jessie Johnson, children, Laura Johnson, Frances A. Johnson and Jeffrey (Mildred) Johnson and siblings, Grace Scott, Allen Lyles and Vincent Lyles. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Justin (Nicole) Bradley, Arnold (Nicole) Walker, great-grandchildren, Kylee and Khloe Walker, Mariah Bradley and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Louis Lyles and sister Martha Smallwood.
Frances was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Greenhaven New York, and worked as a direct care provider in the Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities in New York. She loved to shop, whether for groceries or going to the mall. Frances was a very hard worker and quite particular when it came to keeping her house clean. She was active in the church, from singing in the choir, ushering, decorating for holidays and changing bulletin boards, to coordinating and providing meals for events and people in need. She was a great cook, a nurturing caregiver and a good wife who took very good care of her husband, Jessie. She will be greatly missed.
Frances will be laid to rest in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York.
