Emmett Rigdon Obituary

Emmett Miles Rigdon, age 77, of Lakeland, FL passed away on October 3, 2022.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Rigdon.
Emmett was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Patty Jo, his sister, Myree Garvin and brothers, David, Dickie, and Raymond Rigdon. He is survived by his daughter Laurie (Greg) Mancil of Elba, Alabama, sons, Jamie Rigdon of Samson, Alabama and Jay (Dianna) Brissell of Jacksonville, Florida, sister Fran Reed, and brother, Clifford Smith. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Cody Crawley, Jacob Crawley, Austin Rigdon, Mason Rigdon, Tamara Nichols, Candace Nagi, Dustin Morgan and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Emmett was a member of the motorcycle club known as The Geezers. He looked forward to every Sunday and Thursday breakfast with his guys. He worked as a truck driver for several trucking companies. He was a fan of car racing and even owned his own race car at one point. Emmett was a stubborn man with a huge heart and a great smile. He was a phenomenal storyteller who lived a fearless and adventurous life filled with stories worth telling. He earned his pilot's license and once had the opportunity to fly a P51 Mustang, considered to be the best piston aircraft of World War II that became one of the world's aviation elite. Emmett absolutely adored his dogs, Missy and Minnie. He leaves "his girls" behind in good hands and they will be well taken care of in his honor. Emmett's ashes will be taken to Port Clinton, Ohio where he will be laid to rest next to Patty Jo and their pups who have gone before him.
The family will hold services privately.
