Dorothy Mae Dozier, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 77, in her hometown of Lakeland, Florida. Born on January 15, 1949, to the late James Wesley Golden and Faye Golden, Dorothy's life was a testament to the strength and kindness she carried in her heart.
Dorothy's journey began in Lakeland, where she was a cherished member of the community and a devout member of the Miracle Tabernacle Church in Auburndale. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's trials and triumphs with grace and resilience. She was a woman of strong convictions, never shying away from standing firm in her beliefs and values.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was surrounded by the love of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Though she was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Darla Golden, and her sister Brenda Sue Church, her legacy lives on through her children: Becky Waters (Steve), Teresa Ogilvie, Jan Marie Hanks, Lesa Hagan (Steven), David Dozier (Annah), Etta Faye Jones, and stepson David Oqiluie. Her siblings Mary Ann Golden, James Daniel Golden (Glenda), David Richard Golden (Linda) and Anthony Wayne Golden, also continue to carry the light of her memory. Dorothy's fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren will forever cherish the wisdom and love she imparted upon them.
As we bid farewell to Dorothy Mae Dozier, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that touched so many. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her, and her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come. Dorothy's life was a journey of love, faith, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who were graced by her presence. Dorothy was taken care of by Valencia Hills SNF and Good Shepherd Hospice.
