Deborah Sue Looney Thomas of Auburndale, Florida, went home to her Lord on May 31, 2023. Born March 27, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ernest Eugene "Gene" Looney and Mary Thomas Looney. She was a loving mother to her three sons, Steven Looney, Michael, and Dusty Feichtel, and two stepdaughters, Amber and LeighAnn Thomas. Debbie was grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Karli, Laci, Ely and Lily, Raelynn, Rayden, and Axel, Chassity and Chayce and Leo and Heavenlee. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Looney, two sisters, Nancy and Dianna Looney, and her stepbrother Stephen Ackroyd. She is survived by her beloved mother, Mary Ackroyd, her stepfather of 37 years, Mark, her sons, and grandchildren as well as her stepsister, Tracy (John) Howe, niece, Cassidy Howe, loving aunts, an uncle, cousins, and friends.
Debbie was a hippie chick who loved nature and the beach. She loved the simple things and lived life to its fullest. She thoroughly enjoyed going to Treasure Island, John's Pass, shopping, finding a bargain at thrift stores, traveling, and taking her grandchildren on trips to see things. She was a caregiver to those who needed her. She was a young mother and she gave her three boys a good life. Debbie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lanier Funeral and Cremation Services. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Following will be a graveside service where Debbie will be laid to rest at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 5415 Mount Olive Rd. Polk City, Florida, 33868.
