Deborah Marie Cowan, 64, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on September 23, 2023.
Deborah was born on July 29, 1959, in Mason City, Iowa to Marvin and LaVonne (Gourley) Rinnels.
Deborah worked many years as a caregiver to adults with disabilities and special needs and most recently, at Campfire Sunshine of Central Florida aftercare program for children. She and her husband John were members of the Moose Lodge for many years. The simple pleasures in life brought joy to Debbie. She loved to play games and spend time with her family and friends. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed going to the movies and crafting. She was a natural caregiver and leaves behind many who loved her. She will be sorely missed.
Deborah was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, John Keith Cowan, and her stepson, Ronald Keith Cowan. She was also preceded in death by her three siblings David Dickinson, Terry Rinnels, and infant sister, Kristi.
Deborah is survived by five step-children: Christine Carol Marion, Curtis Albert Cowan, Timothy John Cowan, Kelly Anne (John) Merriam, and Mark Wesley Cowan.
She also had a niece, Melissa (Michael) Johnson, and a great-nephew, Tristan Johnson, along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. at Lanier Funeral & Cremation Services.
A celebration of Deborah's life will follow at 11 AM.
