DALE DENNIS DOUTHIT, age 69, passed away on Friday January 17, 2025.
DALE was born on June 18, 1955 in Jackson, Michigan to parents Dennis Daniel and Esther Marie (Bilaski) Douthit. He was the oldest of five children.
He is survived by a very special friend Kelley Bolley, 4 siblings: Brother Timothy Oren (Robynn) Douthit of Florida and their 3 children Taylor Gene, Devon Daniel and Hayley Marie; Sisters Julia Ann, Mary Ellen and Dorothy Jean Douthit of San Angelo, Texas; Niece Stacy Marie (Sean) McKellip and their son Dillon Marcus McKellip of Michigan, and family friend Lisa Truesdell of San Angelo, Texas.
Dale is predeceased by his parents Dennis Daniel Douthit (October 1, 2009) and Esther Marie Douthit (August 23, 2024) and nephews Jesse Dean Sanders and Daniel Michael Cherry of Michigan.
Dale grew up on the family farm near Concord, Michigan. He worked alongside his father, both in the fields and on various construction projects as well as tinkering in automotive/motorcycle repair. He attended Concord public schools through the 8th grade and was a member of the first graduating class of Lumen Christi Catholic High School in Jackson, Michigan. Dale excelled in math, science and Latin, and he was listed in the "Who's Who of American High School Students" in 1973.
Dale worked on a large commercial hog operation near Homer, Michigan where he was in charge of the breeding and farrowing operations. During this time, he became interested in hang gliding, first learning to fly on the shores of Lake Michigan and later by towing up behind a pickup truck and releasing the kite at 500 feet to fly until landing in the various fields of Michigan. Dale also enjoyed wind surfing as well as canoeing and other water sports.
Dale moved to Lansing, Michigan in the early 1980's where he met Kelly Bolley and spent the rest of his life caring for her and sharing a love of dogs and other animals. They eventually moved to Lakeland, Florida where Dale worked for a tile-making factory and later Advanced Aluminum where he was loved and admired for his problem-solving ability, his patience, toughness and hard-working nature.
Dale was a strong, patient, unassuming man who lived by his convictions. He did not need a spotlight on him to treat others with kindness and dignity. He will be remembered fondly and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
