Clayton A. Graves Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born in Wellsville, New York, and moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1986.
In his life, he was a police officer, retired from the Air Force, farrier, blacksmith, and welder. Later in life after retirement, he joined the Florida Frontiersmen and East Florida Rangers. At 82 he hiked the Appalachian trail with his son. One of his greatest enjoyments was attending rendezvous but most of all, enjoying his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest.
Clayton is preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years Alice (Perkins) Graves, parents Arthur & Virginia (Lewis) Graves, and his two sisters Juanita Graves & Janet Pridgen.
Survived by his loving wife, Janie Graves; sons Clayton Graves Jr. (Doreen) and Brian Graves (Julie); grandchildren Virginia Aakhus (Tim) and Shelby Graves (Matt); great-grandchildren Keaton Graves and Heidi Aakhus. Also survived by his brother, Karl Graves (Patty) of Wellsville, New York; and sister Judy Golish of Wellsville, New York.
