Charles A. Nelson, aged 83, of Lakeland, Florida passed away at his home on December 18, 2022. Charles was born on January 6, 1939, in Okoboji, Iowa, to Sylvanus and Eunice Nelson. He was the youngest of two children. On May 10, 1958, he married the love of his life, Sandra R. Nelson (née Ohlson). Shortly thereafter, they moved to Lakeland, Florida, where they established their family and raised two children. He worked for Swift & Company for 38 years, retiring in 1996. Because he loved the mountains, he and Sandra bought a home in Franklin, North Carolina where they spent the summers enjoying his retirement. He was a member of Gibsonia Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida. Charles was a kind, and selfless man. He was a devoted employee, a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Chuck enjoyed working in his yard and playing with his dog, Charlie. He loved his family very much and was a great dad. He was a thoughtful and gentle man who put everyone before himself. He will be sorely missed.
Charles is survived by his sister, Sylvia Willis, his daughter, Holly R. Heflin, and son-in-law, Kevin O. Heflin. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Heflin, Sandy (Evin) Thomas, and Allison Rose (Kyle) Jackson, and great-grandchildren, Beatrice, Geneva, and Henry Heflin, and Ava and Emma Thomas.. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra, and his son, Scott. Charles will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Sandra and with Scott at Oak Hill Burial Park, 4620 US Hwy 98 South, Lakeland, FL 33812.
