Charles Edward Jenkins, a man of unwavering courage and selfless love, completed his earthly journey on November 25, 2024, at the age of 70, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on August 11, 1954, in Linden, Virginia, Charles was a man of strength and kindness throughout his life.
Charles was the beloved husband of Diane Faye Jenkins, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage since April 30, 1977. He was a cherished son to his late parents, Herbert and Madelyn Jenkins. His memory will be treasured by his devoted siblings, Debra Johnson, Linda Bradly, Vickie Frye, Jack Jenkins, Robert Jenkins, and the late Herbert Jenkins Jr. and James Jenkins. His legacy will live on through his 15 nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.
A proud veteran, Charles served his country with honor and then continued his service through his active membership in the American Legion back in Virginia. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a dedicated member of Parkview Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida, where he found great solace and community.
Charles's zest for life was evident in his love for the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found peace and joy in the serenity of nature. His passion for travel took him on many adventures, creating a tapestry of memories that his family and friends will hold dear.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Charles will remember him as a man who embodied love, courage, and selflessness. He approached life with a warm heart and a generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement.
The honor of serving as pallbearers will be bestowed upon Shannon Raymond, Bobby Landes, Billy Lowden, Daniel Gay, Roger Nichols, and Gary Simpson. These individuals, who held a special place in Charles's life, will accompany him on his final journey.
Charles's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. His absence will be deeply felt, but the impact of his presence will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we bid farewell to Charles Edward Jenkins, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a legacy of love that will forever illuminate the paths of those he leaves behind. His story does not end here, for in our hearts and memories, Charles's spirit will continue to thrive, guiding us with the same compassion and bravery that he shared so freely during his time with us.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Charles Edward Jenkins will be profoundly missed, but the light he brought into this world will never fade.
