Charles Edward Gschwender, Jr. passed away on May 13, 2021, after a short illness in Lakeland, Florida. Eddie was a dedicated son, stepfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He was born on February 12, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Kathleen Sr. High School on June 5, 1968. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 1,1968 to serve in the Viet Nam War. After being discharged from the Air Force, he then served in the Army National Guard and was discharged on September 1, 1978. He retired from the Mosaic Phosphate Plant in Mulberry, Florida as a Supervisor.
He loved his family, the outdoors, fishing, baseball, loved God and was active in his Church. He was always quick to laugh and over the last few years, he traveled and enjoyed spending time with Shirley prior to her illness.
Eddie is preceded in death by his father Charles Gschwender, Sr., brother John Stephen Gschwender, his first wife Betty Gschwender, and second wife Shirley Gschwender.
He is survived by his mother Freda Gschwender, brothers Bob Gschwender (Sharon), Don Gschwender; sisters Terry McPheters (Jared), Janet Picklesimer (Gary), Betty Coy (Alan), Barbara Couch (Mike), sister-in-law Millie Gschwender, stepson Ronnie (Lawanda), grandson RonRon, great grandsons Olan & Evan, stepdaughter Cheri, Aunt Martha Kegley; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Many thanks to the nurses and doctors who cared for him at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
Visitation at Lanier Funeral Home will be held Thursday, June 24 at 10:00, memorial service at 11:00.
