Charles Anderson Obituary

Charles Russell Anderson Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 84. Born on July 12, 1940, in Odessa, New York, to George and Elaine Anderson, Charles grew up in a lively household with his brothers Ronald, Gary, Eugene, James, and his sister Dawn.

Charles met the love of his life, Emma, and they married on June 10, 1961 having 63 beautiful years together. Their union was blessed with four children: Charles "Bo" Russell Anderson Jr. (Shelly), who preceded him in death, George Michael Anderson (Priscilla), Richard Aldo Anderson, and Deborah Gail Anderson-May (Mike). The family expanded to include eight grandchildren—Jennifer (preceded in death), Cory, Brittany, Skyler, Casey, Cierra, Emily, and Sarah—and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to Charles's life.

Before settling into family life, Charles honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, a period of his life of which he was particularly proud. After his military service, he embarked on a career as an on-the-road truck driver, a job that allowed him to see many parts of the country and instilled in him a sense of adventure and independence.

Charles's passion for life was evident in his many interests. He was an avid racing enthusiast, both as a participant and a spectator. His love for the sport led him to race stock cars, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers. Golfing was another of his favorite pastimes, and he enjoyed many sunny afternoons on the greens with friends and family.

A true family man, Charles cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a man of deep faith, and together with Emma, he dedicated 15 years to handing out food to the needy, touching the lives of many with his generosity and compassion.

Those who knew Charles will remember him as a loving, wise, and faith-filled man. His advice was sought after by many, and his ability to listen and understand made him a confidant to friends and family alike. His legacy is one of love, service, and dedication to the things that mattered most to him: his family, his country, and his faith.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife, Emma; his children, George Michael Anderson (Priscilla), Richard Aldo Anderson, and Deborah Gail Anderson-May (Mike); his brother, James Elwood Anderson; his sister, Dawn Elizabeth Anderson-Hartsuff; his grandchildren, Cory, Brittany, Skyler, Casey, Cierra, Emily, and Sarah; and his 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elaine Anderson; his brothers, Ronald Lee Anderson, Gary Robert Anderson, and Eugene Lyle Anderson; his son, Charles "Bo" Russell Anderson Jr.; and his granddaughter, Jennifer.

Charles Russell Anderson Sr. lived a full and meaningful life. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring impact he had on all of us. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
