Barry Kent Williams

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, cousin and friend, Barry Kent Williams, on July 16, 2026, at the age of 71.

Barry was born on July 14, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, and spent his childhood growing up in Annapolis, where he made many lifelong memories. He later lived for many years in the Outer Banks of North Carolina before eventually making Florida his home. There, he built a career as an automobile A/C mechanic, taking great pride in his work and the friendships he formed along the way.

Barry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delia, the love of his life, whom he cherished beyond words. He is also reunited with his parents; his father, Paul Williams Sr.; his beautiful mother, Bernice Ledesma; "Popi" Jorge Ledesma, who was so much more than a stepfather he was a true dad to Barry; his beloved and only son, Jason Williams, one of the greatest loves of Barry's life. Barry's love for his son never wavered. He adored Jason, was endlessly proud to be his father, and carried him in his heart always; his twin like nephew, Matthew, with whom he shared a special bond; and his brother-in-law, Jorge, who held a very special place in Barry's heart.

He leaves behind his loving siblings, Barbara, Paul Jr., Beverly, and Betsy. He also leaves behind his two stepsons, whom he loved dearly, and his four step-grandsons, who brought him great joy. Barry and Delia lovingly cared for and cherished three of his step-grandsons throughout their younger years, and the love they shared remained a treasured part of Barry's life.

Barry is also survived by his first wife, Mary Williams. They shared a young love that brought Jason into the world—a gift Barry treasured throughout his life.

Barry was affectionately known as "Uncle Barry" or "Uncle BearBear," a title he wore with pride. He loved being an uncle, and the bond he shared with his many nieces, nephews, and generations of great-nieces and nephews was one of the greatest joys of his life. He also leaves behind many cousins and countless friends who became family through the years.

Anyone who knew Barry knew he had a heart as big as his smile. He had an incredible ability to make people laugh, make everyone feel welcome, and turn even the simplest moments into celebrations. His love for his family and friends was unwavering, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying the company of others, Barry lived life with kindness, humor, and a generous spirit that touched everyone he met.

Although our hearts are broken by his unexpected passing, we take comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind. His laughter, love, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Barry will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lanier Funeral and Cremation Services, 717 Griffin Road, Lakeland, Florida.
