Obituary

Amado Plascencia was born in Tulare California on September 13, 1941 to Jesus and Edwardia Plascencia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He lived his life by one motto, "live and let live," and he would never sweat the small stuff or, as he used to say, "the Mickey Mouse shit."

Amado's parents passed away when he was a young boy. The loss forced him to be raised fatherless by his siblings, but that did not hinder him from becoming a great father. As a father, he taught his son Amado Jr. (Junior), many lessons. One lesson Junior, never forgot was how to play pool. As a young boy, Junior would hit the cue ball so hard it would fly off the table. Amado would explain to his son the need to hit the ball softly, or in his words, "just kiss the ball." Of course, young Junior would not listen, sending the ball flying again. Standing on a stool holding the pool stick, Junior would look at his undoubtedly frustrated father. Amado would not say anything to his son. He would give him a silent look that said everything his son needed to hear. As a father, Junior has learned how to give his children the same look his father gave him as a child.

As a grandfather, Amado was famous for his Tootsie Rolls. He used to hand them out to his grandchildren when they came to see him. Even though they were always soft and maybe a little melted, his grandchildren used to love them. The children often asked to see their grandfather, hoping they would receive a Tootsie Roll. It was a mystery where those Tootsie Rolls came from until one day, Junior finally asked. Amado answered, "I get a free handful every time I go to Amscot to pay my rent." Junior just laughed.
Amado left many cherished memories behind with his loved ones. He will be missed but not forgotten. And if he were here today, he would tell us to "live and let live" and "don't sweat the Mickey Mouse shit."
