Lois Edna Dyer Mills, 87, of Lakeland, Florida, went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 as a result of heart failure.
She was born on October 12, 1930 in Cookeville, TN. Her family moved to Lakeland when she was a child and she graduated with honors from Lakeland Senior High.
She married Wallace Mills and they raised eight children on a small farm in Lakeland. She was a legal secretary for many years and a notary public, in addition to her many hats as a stay-at-home mom. She loved God and she was a loving wife, mother, “Granny,” and great-grandma.
She was preceded in death by her late husband of 57 years, Wallace Lee Mills, Army Veteran of WWII, her eight siblings, her two children, Roger and Karen, and her granddaughter, Kerry. She leaves behind six children: Darryl, Donald and wife Tammy, Gary and wife Gina, Janice, Lisa, and Jimmy and wife Lynn. She will be greatly missed by her children, 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
The family will welcome friends for a visitation on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 6:00-8:00PM at Lanier Funeral & Cremation Services, 717 Griffin Road, Lakeland, FL 33805, with a funeral service on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 11:00AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church located at 5415 Mount Olive Road, Polk City, FL 33868. Interment and reception will follow.
