Kathleen “Kate” Mullins Harrell of Dade City, Florida passed on the morning of September 10th, 2019 at 74 years of age. She is loved by her husband and soulmate, Ron, sister, Eunie, children, Bill Barnes of Alaska, Kristine Barnes of Colorado, Debbie Witter (Johnnie), Virginia Frazier (Reggie), Kevin Harrell (Linda) and Annetta Walker (Leslie), her grandchildren, Amanda Thompson (Jacob), Maya Gruenberg, Ashley Dasher (Scott), Tony Harrell, Joshua Walker (Brooke), Holly Frazier (Trevor), Kassandra Harrell, Kylie Harrell, Tionnie Walker and Keira Harrell, 5-great grandchildren, 4-dogs and numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved brothers, John and David, and her cherished granddaughter, Johnnie Lynnette Witter.
Kate walked softly but carried her big stick when she needed it. Naturally spiritual, she had a calming effect on people and animals alike. Highly intelligent, she could talk to anyone about anything, preferring to converse over a cup of coffee, or her favorite, hot tea with milk.
Satirically funny, she had a gift of finding the humor in the difficult. She was a fierce defender of the underdog and she could find dignity amid pain or oppression.
Kate lived her life with passion. She was a registered surgical nurse, a FAA Private Pilot, flying hot air balloons across Florida, the Carolinas and New Mexico. She was a certified scuba diver, a golfer and a Buccaneers fan. She loved her gardens, her books, her dogs, her friends and her family. And if you wanted to check out the latest “as seen on TV” gadget, just go to Kate’s house. You could bet she would have it.
Kate was loving, brave and generous. And she was deeply loved, respected and will be missed by all who loved her.
