Joan Mock Hood

Joan Mock Hood, or Jo, as she was known to most, passed peacefully on June 6, 2018. Born in Lakeland, Fl. on March 20, 1937 to Rosa Lee and Sim Mock; she was a lifelong resident of her beloved city. She was a 1955 graduate of Kathleen High School and earned her AA degree from Polk State College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Jimbo’s BBQ for 43 years and managed properties through her own company for many years. She was a lover of life, a traveler, a laugher, and a giver. She considered her family and friends her greatest asset. She was an avid reader, a tremendous player of Jeopardy and loved to spend hours talking on the phone to her friends and family. She traveled every year to the Georgia mountains with her husband of 40 years, Thomas Hood. She was extremely proud of her children, Lea Del Tosto, Mitchell and Darren Harvey and step daughter, Andrea Howlett. She had seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Oak Hill Burial Park at 11:00AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Joan M. Hood; 235 N. Kentucky Avenue, Lakeland, Florida 33801.
