Alan Levitt Obituary

Alan Marc Levitt, 64, of Lakeland Florida left this world peacefully in his home on June 16, 2018.

His cancer progressed in spite of his brave toleration of 16 rounds of chemotherapy and 28 radiation sessions. Though the disease stole his life, he never let it define him or defeat his spirit of optimism and hope.

He enjoyed each day as it unfolded and lived a life simply focused on appreciating the people and things he loved, like NY Yankees baseball, soccer, jazz, reading, and his rescue pups.

He enjoyed the water and made many friends exercising at the pools at both YMCAs in Lakeland, where he gained strength of mind, body, and spirit. He had a gift for talking to strangers and instantly turning them into friends.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 29, 1954, the first son of Stanley Ira Levitt and Shirley Marks Levitt. He grew up in Miami, FL and worked 26 years at Dade-Behring in medical supplies and sold books and cars during his career.

He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Melissa, his brother Gary, niece Jaime Levitt Corry, former sister-in-law and friend Michelle Schwartz Sallerson, many cousins, and countless friends.

At a date to be determined, a small gathering of those closest to him will release his remains in a destination that always made him very happy.
